          Yvette Cooper was born on March 20, 1969, in Inverness, Scotland.

          After attending Eggar's School in Hampshire, she earned her A-levels at Alton Sixth Form College. She went on to study at the University of Oxford, where she earned a degree in philosophy, politics, and economics.

          In 1991, Cooper received a Kennedy Scholarship to study at Harvard University.

          During that time, she participated in President Bill Clinton's 1992 election campaign. She also pursued further studies at the London School of Economics.
