Zellig Harris (b.

Harris established a lifelong connection with Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. He received his bachelor's degree in , his master's three years later, and his doctorate immediately following. Harris pursued Semitic studies, focusing on the decipherment and interpretation of the Ugaritic texts from Ras Shamra.
