Biography of Zillur Rahman: President of Bangladesh
Zillur Rahman was born in Bayrab Upazila, Kishoreganj, into a family of lawyers.
He obtained a basic legal education at Dhaka University and also earned a master's degree in history. Rahman participated in the Bengali Language Movement in 1952 and played a significant role in establishing Bengali as one of the state languages.
Later, as a candidate of the Awami League, he was elected as a member of parliament in the national elections of 1970 in Pakistan.
During the Bangladesh Liberation War, Rahman actively participated in the activities of the exiled unrecognized government.
